Testing for Hepatitis B patients in grey zone

28 Jan 2019

Our relationship with Dr Ken Liu of University of Sydney keeps going strong even after the completion of his visiting fellowship at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Another article he first authored during his training with our team at the Institute of Digestive Diseases was recently published in Liver International.

The study on the “Clinical outcomes and management of patients with chronic hepatitis B and liver stiffness measurement in the grey zone” shows that performing a liver biopsy or repeat liver stiffness measurement for patients in the grey zone is clinically useful not only because they can prompt a change in management but both tests also provide prognostic information (Liver Int. 2018 Nov 12. doi: 10.1111/liv.14001. [Epub ahead of print]).

Anyone interested in future collaboration in this field of research is welcome to contact our key investigator, Prof Grace Wong. Prof Wong is an expert in non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and chronic viral hepatitis; she has published over 160 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
